The NPS was set up to guide and coordinate whole-of-government efforts in the implementation of national population policies and programmes. It also provides secretariat support to the National Population Committee (NPC) chaired by DPM and Minister for Home Affairs Mr Wong Kan Seng. The role of the NPC is to tackle the complex population challenge which requires planning and coordination at the highest level.
NPS comprises of three units, namely, the Citizenship and Population Unit (CPU), the Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU) and the Strategies and Projects Unit (SPU).
